Formed through the 2016 merger of Thompson Farland, Inc. and Farland Corporation, Inc., we unite decades of engineering expertise with modern construction capabilities, all under one trusted name.

Engineering
Our civil engineering team supports developments of all sizes from residential subdivisions to commercial developments and public infrastructure projects. Services include site design, grading and drainage, utility planning, stormwater management, roadway design, and permitting coordination with local and state agencies. Our engineers work closely with clients to anticipate challenges, streamline approvals, and ensure a buildable, cost-effective design.
Site Work & Site Construction
Our site construction division specializes in excavation, land clearing, underground utilities, grading, foundations, and complete site development. Thompson Surveying & Engineering
Founded by Arthur C. Thompson, P.E., P.L.S., known as one of the region’s finest civil engineers and surveyors.
1952 -
Thompson Farland, Inc.
Christian A. Farland, P.E., acquires Thompson Surveying & Engineering, renames it Thompson Farland, Inc., and relocates to New Bedford to continue the Thompson legacy.
2008 -
HBW Records Acquisition
Thompson Farland acquires the full historical records of Hayward-Boynton & Williams, expanding one of the most comprehensive archives of survey data in the Northeast.
2011 -
Kenneth R. Ferreira Engineering (KRFE)
TFI acquires the records of Kenneth R. Ferreira, P.E., P.L.S., integrating decades of local surveying and engineering expertise.
2015 -
Launch of Farland Corp
Christian Farland expands services into site contracting to provide clients with an efficient, construction-focused approach to land development.
2012 -
Merger Creates Today’s Farland Corp
Thompson Farland, Inc. and Farland Corporation, Inc. merge, forming the unified, full-service firm known today as Farland Corp.

President, Farland Corp
Christian Farland was born and raised in New Bedford, MA, and now resides in Dartmouth with his wife, Sara, and their blended family of seven children and one grandchild. Together, Christian and Sara also operate Seaport Homes and Seaport Realty, which support their residential development projects across New England. Sara is the owner of Sara Crook Design, a firm specializing in staging and interior design services for investors, builders, and real estate professionals.
Throughout his career, Christian has been committed to advancing responsible, well-planned development across the region. His leadership is driven by technical expertise, community-focused decision-making, and a belief that the strongest projects result from seamlessly integrating engineering, surveying, and construction into a single, coordinated process.
Under his direction, Farland Corp has expanded from a five-person operation into a team of more than fifty professionals. The company continues to grow while maintaining its core values of accuracy, professionalism, and exceptional client service.
